Around all the houses on the way to the Dingle Film Festival
Maurice Galway, the Director of The Dingle Film Festival http://www.dinglefilmfestival.com/ has kindly supported us when it comes to having a Production Screening of Spiderhole at his festival on Saturday evening at 6 p.m. and I am busting a gut and mental spring right now trying to address the myriad technical problems that have descended like ravens pecking apart this fish I am trying to bring home.
Through the gig and the reels, we need a Digital Cinema Environment kitted out head to toe in a particular way, which basically consists of a 2K cinema projector, an appropriate Dolby Audio Processor and then and this is where it gets complicated, THE MEDIA and DECK/PLAYER type from which the master will play off, and or is suitable to the technology of the space. Did you get that!!!!
HDCAMSR the big heavy weight had a few weeks in the ring until it got knocked on its ass. That few weeks involved hours of phone calls. UP IN SMOKE. It's younger brother tried his hand, the HDCAM, this guy lasted about a week, then flew out over the ropes. Next enter the bantam-weight Blu-Ray, one weekend, two rounds, crash, bang, wallop. Now we are entering yet another light heavy weight, a Quicktime, Pro Res (HQ) 4:2:2 with 5.1 surround sound, and this is already slugging a little for air, but still in the fight. Excuse all this, just a little heads up on what it might take, should you find yourself in a similar situation. Never mind entering into the actual bit depth/colour space/graphics cards dimension.
Alas invites have gone out, phone calls have been made and are being made. And the credit card has a speed burn still smoking as I write this. The seats for the first screening, all 100 of them precious little puppies have name tags on their toes, and the sun is out in Kerry for what looks to be a beautiful weekend, but I wont sleep until fedex arrives at my door with a package from Redlab and then I will be blowing a major kiss toward Vinit Borrison across the Atlantic before jumping in the car and gunning it...
